Trunk or Treat!

We had a fun Halloween last week Trunk or Treating at the church! Everyone backed up their cars into a circle in the parking lot! There was face painting and some other fun games for the kids. We decorated our car with our carved pumpkin and toilet paper ghosts that Hannah and I made together! As you can see, Leah spent lots of time on Brian's shoulders that night - Brian didn't know that Leah took a dum dum before placing her on his shoulders...she had opened the wrapper and ate the whole thing! As you can imagine, Brian's hair was naturally "gelled" on top!!! It was so funny. We had a great time!

Pumpkin Carving Fun!

We had our friends come over last night(John and Heather-they live in our complex) to carve pumpkins with us and have pumpkin chili! John made awesome cornbread! Oh, and I'm sorry there isn't a picture with me in it! I guess I was the photographer that night. Anyway, Brian made an awesome "bat cat" (as Hannah would call it). The girls weren't really involved since Hannah thought the insides were yucky and we wouldn't let her use a knife! :) Nonetheless, we had lots of fun! I think Hannah's in love with John. :)

I forgot to add this classic picture of Leah. This is what she does....she point to things and excitedly babbles about that thing! She totally looks you in the eye and looks very seriously excited during the babbling. So funny!

Zoo Boo!

The Houston Zoo does a "Zoo Boo" event all Halloween month on the weekends. You bring your kids to the zoo with Halloween costumes on. They have numerous booths with stickers/candy/little prizes, a pumpkin patch(one with Hannah and Leah sitting on a haystack-it was the best picture we took, i promise!), a bat cave with pirates, monster mash parade, and more that I can't think of right now. Hannah did surprisingly well with some of the big kid games. Hannah's favorite part was the monster mash parade/dance party! Hannah enjoyed seeing all of the kids dressed in Halloween costumes! We also went to a story time in the butterfly theater and Hannah got to pet a lizard! Our last place we visited was the aquarium where both Leah and Hannah crawled together through a fish tank! This was the first time Leah was brave enough to do it with her sister! Brian was able to come with us, which made it 100 times more enjoyable for the girls! It was a fun morning to say the least.

Note: Leah is tinkerbell and Hannah is a princess.....next week, Leah will wear her pumpkin and hat costume I made her a month ago, and I'm just finishing up on Hannah's witch costume. I'll post more pictures in a week or two with their "real" costumes on

Hannah Starts Dance!

Hannah just started dance classes weekly on Fridays just yesterday! This is with Tricia Campbell who is in a ward in Pearland. She does a great job, and Hannah loves it! She especially loves the butterfly stretching part, because her teacher asks each girl what color their butterfly is, and where the butterfly is going! They dance like different animals and do little songs like "I'm a little teapot". They're starting first and second positions and tapping with their toes pointed in front of them: ballet.

I found Hannah and Leah like this coming out of my room the other day...I am so glad that it has come to the point where I don't have to fear for Leah's life anymore when I leave the room! :) Their recent favorite things to do together is play with babies, play in forts, read together, dance together, etc. It's nice to not really be in the baby stage anymore (for the most part). I love my little family!

We all went to the downtown aquarium last Saturday, the 30th I believe. It was amazing....the pictures don't do it justice! We had lots of fun, though, especially with daddy!!! There were white tigers at the end of the exhibit. A big surprise for us! Both Leah and Hannah had a blast looking at all of the fish and sharks and even an alligator!

Hi Family and Friends! Lisa Hall just sent me her family blog, and it made me realize that I need to update ours! All of the pictures and information are updated now! This post is about our daughters' birthdays last month (June 23rd-Leah, and June 26th-Hannah). We celebrated it, though, in AZ early in June. My DAD made this beautiful cake, and Hannah loved the princess theme! My mom is awesome for helping me with the girls' party!!! It was just with my parents and siblings.

I had the opportunity to make a little extra money and babysit an adorable 20 month old. His name is Micah, and his parents are friends of ours. Micah's regular babysitter went out of town this week. Let me just say it was such a fun, but challenging experience for me, since we had fun places to go, while all three of us had colds! When Brian was home from work, he helped out tons! Micah really loved playing with Brian. Hannah really enjoyed having a little play mate, since she's 16 months and they're really close in age. On Veteren's Day, we went to the parade on Mill Ave in Tempe and LOVED it! We also ended the week with going over to Brian's parent's house where they have goats, chickens, and lots of backyard to explore! I watched Micah all day, Monday through Thursday. What a treat, but I'm glad that we're back to just Hannah and I! :) I unfortunately don't have any photos. (So sad!)

Hasn't Hannah changed? From an ASU Cheerleader last year to Tinkerbell this year! Amanda and Hannah went to Grandview Ward's Trunk-or-Treat, Shalimar's Trunk-or-Treat, Denny and Inge-Lise's Halloween Party, and visited grandparents. Brian was working that day :(, but we had fun. Halloween is a great time to show off the cute kids, right? :)

Lake Powell/Chris Comes Home!

A couple weeks ago we traveled to Lake Powell with Brian's family and it was a blast! Except that it was freezing and windy! No, it really was a lot of fun to get away and spend time with family members that we hadn't seen for a long time. Hannah had a great time and really bonded with her cousins, aunts and uncles. We were there for four days, and then went home to Chris' Homecoming from the Philippines!!! We were there Oct. 15th night at the airport to see him fresh off the plane. It was so amazing to finally see him after two years! Afterward, Brian and Amanda went over to Heather and John's for dinner with Nathan and Chris as well. We've had such a great time hearing Chris' stories and hanging out with him. We love our brother, Chris!

No Back to School for us!

Brian and I have been feeling lately that we should be starting another semester...but we're done! To keep ourselves busy this fall, Brian has been laboring over our square foot garden, learning Spanish on Rosetta Stone, and just working on little projects around the home. I joined the Mormon Deseret Choir a month ago, and I love it! I'm also working researching holistic nutrition, exercise daily, and am researching how to make a slip cover for the chair we found next to a dumpster! Good luck to me! Hannah and I attend a storytime and an art class for one to two year olds and enjoys attending the ward play groups.

So much has happened with our family, and we haven't been posting!!! Just to catch you up, Brian and I graduated a few months ago in May with bachelor degrees in Nursing and Music Education! Woohoo! Brian now has a full time job as a nurse at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital. I am able to stay at home with Hannah...huge blessing for our family. I am in the Mormon Deseret Choir that meets once a week and am starting a Piano Pedagogy class at MCC starting this next Monday. It's just two days a week for 50 minutes...perfect! Hannah is almost 14 months old now, and is walking like a pro, saying three official words (daddy, ball, go), and is a baby that never fails to make us laugh everyday with her fun personality! We love her! Next blog, I'll post some pictures from the summer. Here are some pictures from the graduation and other random pics of Hannah...enjoy!

This is our family Christmas photo taken at grandma and grandpa Arnett's

Mom's giving Hannah her first voice lesson. And seeing that it is Christmas time, it's only appropriate that her first song to learn would be the Halelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. She is pictured in front of the Christmas tree at Grandma & Grandpa Arnett's home. We think she'll be ready to carol with us this season. What do you think?

Of course Hannah had to be an ASU cheerleader since mommy and daddy are ASU pupils. She was a little disoriented due to her abrupt awakening from her nap. Go Devils!
